Critical Illness Cover

• This insurance provides a lump sum on diagnosis of one of the specified illnesses covered under the policy, such as heart attack, cancer, stroke

• The lump sum can be used to repay your mortgage or to help towards the cost of adapting to a disability

• This cover can be taken out in conjunction with life cover. This means that a lump sum would be payable on death or diagnosis of a critical illness whichever occurred first.

• As it is more likely that you would claim on a critical illness policy than a life insurance policy during the term, this is reflected in the premium

• Companies tend to cover a core list of illnesses, however, policies can differ.
